Dear Parents &c.,

It would please me much to receive another letter from you. I have been here one week tonight [and] have written eleven letters with this. Received two which I do not consider fair. Yesterday I went downtown in the forenoon. We had service here in our mess house and such a sermon I have seldom listed to. The minister is a member of our company. He is a Congregationalist. I believe him to be an excellent man.

We had our first regimental drill this afternoon. It was grand now, I tell you. You must come down and see us before we go. Certain you must. I think I shall come home soon to see if I can get recruits. Tell the boys that wish to enlist and have them wait for me. There is not much of news here in camp. There was a man stabbed over at Camp Scott yesterday morning. He tried to run the guard but he did not hardly do it.

S. M. Booth is here every night. I take his daily paper called the “Daily Life.” It is an excellent paper. We have any quantity of noted characters for visitors. I presume there were 500 spectators here this afternoon. write soon please.

— Warren M. Green
